Flavour Variety
Food you cook for your baby will be what they move onto after weaning
Once they are past the weaning stage your baby will be eating the sorts of food you normally cook, so they may as well get started from the beginning.
Help your baby to used to the foods you will be serving up by cooking your own weaning food.
Home cooked tastes better
Even if you aren’t a great cook, then home made food tends to taste fresher, and you can vary the amount it is pureed or mashed up.
You have the quality control
You can be in charge of how much of certain ingredients each meal contains, and add in more veg, or vary the flavours a little.
You’ll also know exactly what goes into each dish.
Home made weaning food is more nutritious
When food is packaged it needs a longer shelf life. This means they often have to treat the food foods, heat it to a high temperature, to kill off bacteria which may affect the nutritional content.
Less packaging = better for the environment
Each small meal wrapped in packaging isn’t good for the environment, so food you can make at home will be better for the planet.
So just a reminder that pre-made baby food isn’t bad, and you don’t need to avoid it. But worrying about not being a good enough cook is putting you off cooking, just consider all the points above.
