MASSAGE CAN HELP YOUR BABY SLEEP When you massage MASSAGE CAN HELP YOUR BABY SLEEP

When you massage your baby before bedtime it can help them sleep better and this works on many levels.

When you massage your baby their brain releases Oxytocin, a hormone which can help them feel loved, safe and it helps them feel closer to you. This feeling is so important for sleep. If a baby feels safe, they will relax and when they relax they are more able to fall asleep.

One study we read said babies who were massaged had lower levels of stress hormones such as cortisol compared to those infants who did not receive a massage.

How wonderful is that ! Something so easy to do and readily available to all can have such a positive impact.

Have you tried massage with your baby ?

Do you feel appreciated ? It can be so easy to a Do you feel appreciated ?

It can be so easy to acknowledge someones efforts or feelings, yet most of us feel we don't get enough acknowledgment most of the time.

My husband had a day off work this week, so he did some of the home schooling for our young kids. 2hrs later (after i'd finished a client meeting) with absolute sincerity, he acknowledged what I have been doing recently. Home schooling 2 children whilst trying to continue working too. It felt so good to know that he has seen and appreciates my efforts. It gave me a boost.

The same morning, whilst I was at my client meeting, a Mother's Mentor session. The client was talking about how she was feeling and what was going on for her. I realised she needed some acknowledgement , some validation for her feelings, her efforts. So that is what I did.

The easiest ways to acknowledge someone is to verbalise it and also to listen to them. A simple 'I really appreciate everything you do', thank you' goes a long way.

Try it, acknowledge your nearest and dearest today...it often has a boomarang effect and you'll notice the appreciation returned.
A mum of a 4 month old baby asked me today if she A mum of a 4 month old baby asked me today if she should stop feeding her baby to sleep. She is happy feeding her baby, he seems happy with it too, and he falls asleep readily.

So why stop. She said everything she had read told her she shouldn't be doing it. She would be setting up bad habits and it was wrong.

I replied asking her these questions. I promised her that it is a natural, normal to feed to sleep in this way, especially with such tiny ones and if she is happy with it then it is great that she continues.

Of course a feeding mother can stop whenever SHE wants to but that's the point is should be when she and her baby are ready, not from external pressure.

Until then, enjoy the bond it creates between you and the ease of which it works.
