Welcome! Since you’ve come to our website you’re probably pregnant or you’ve recently had a baby. You may be feeling a real mix of emotions about becoming a parent, and adjusting to all the practical, emotional and mental changes that parenting brings. Maybe you are:
- finding it hard being at home with a baby all day, missing your sense of purpose
- feeling like everyone else has got it sorted and you don’t know what you’re doing yet
- worried about whether you will be able to go back to work, you can’t imagine leaving your baby
- a bit lost, but loving a new sense of strength that mothering has brought you
- totally exhausted, strung out, anxious and
- struggling to find time or energy to eat a healthy diet and living off toast and tea
No matter how you’re feeling about parenting right now, you want to be able to enjoy your time with your baby on maternity leave and be a really brilliant mother.
You want to be calm and confident, sure you’re doing the right thing for you, and for your baby. You worry that you’ll never get this and it’s always changing.
You know that you’re open to making some changes, and finding a new way of parenting.
But you just don’t know how to make that a reality . . . you feel a bit stuck.
We have been through all of these emotions, we understand, and we want to help you. The Gentle Touch and all we offer is based on our personal experiences, as well as extensive experience over 6 years of working with over 1500 new parents.
Here’s what we believe:
We believe motherhood is not well understood, and we don’t have the right words for everything a mother does, especially in those early years.
We believe women have the ability to feel better about parenting when they tune into their baby, ignore the text books become open to working on their own emotions.
You have the strength, insight and love inside you, and we want to give you the tools and support to create the family you want.
We also believe in having a laugh at the funny times, and we love cake!
This is the thing: being a parent is tough, you are doing an amazing job, there is no rulebook for what needs to happen, you can find your own way, you are brilliant! We understand how difficult the early days of parenthood can be and aim to help the transition in a gentle way offering courses and treatments to nurture both parent and child.
Your mental health, your diet and your family are the most important things ever . . . and we are going to help you make the most of your maternity leave so you can focus on having the adventures and making the memories that will last forever.
Meet the team
The Gentle Touch is owned and run by Emma and Anna. We have an expanding team of amazing women who extend our services across Bristol.
Emma offers Bespoke antenatal and postnatal support to women. She also teaches baby massage courses.
"I’m a mother of two boys, they have taught me and continue to teach me so much about love, patience and strength.
The Gentle Touch was born out of my desire to help other women during their transition to motherhood. My first son was born at 34 weeks, a bit of a shock, still being at work. After his birth I was given a book about baby massage, I loved it and decided to train as an instructor, and never looked back.
I am studying to be an antenatal teacher and postnatal mothers’ mentor. I am passionate about assisting with the mother baby relationship and helping the mother with her emotional journey, particularly women who may have had a traumatic birth or postnatal difficulties."
Emma has Diplomas in both Baby Massage and Baby Yoga
Anna is a Nutritional Therapist and offers bespoke advice for the whole family. She also teaches baby massage courses.
"Becoming a mother first time round was a shock, I struggled with the change in lifestyle on maternity leave after a very busy corporate job, I wasn’t sure how I fitted into my new life. I’ve got two daughters and I started learning about Baby Massage with the birth of my second and enjoyed it so much I trained to join Emma in The Gentle Touch.
I’m a Registered Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and love working with people on their diet to help them feel energised, healthy and well. I enjoy working with new parents running our baby classes, everyone we meet teaches us something new and helps develop what we deliver."
Anna has diplomas in both Baby Massage and Baby Yoga; and is a Registered Nutritional Therapist (CNHC) and Registered Nutritionist (BANT).
Therapist - Holistic Massage, Indian Head Massage, Rejuvenating Facial Massage, Reiki and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Jane is trained in Holistic treatments including Massage and Reiki All treatments can be tailored to your individual requirements or time limitations. Appointments can be made at your home or in a salon treatment room (Park Row, BS8).
Therapist – Pregnancy Massage and Holistic Massage
Lindsay trained at SCMB as a MTI registered Holistic Massage Therapist. She is also our fully qualified Pregnancy Massage specialist. Lindsay offers bespoke treatments specifically tailored to suit your individual needs, drawing from a wide range of techniques from subtle energy work to deep tissue methods, from stretching and mobilisation to gentle holds.

Allegra is a mother to two young children, with 12 years’ experience working with children and young people with complex and challenging additional needs including attachment issues.
“I have experienced first-hand the huge adjustment to life that becoming a mother can be, both practically and emotionally and through friends and online groups I came to realise that I am not alone in these feelings.
Understanding this is why I have chosen to become a Mothers Help. I feel that to have someone to come and ease the burden of day to day life, be it having an hour to yourself or just to have the house hoovered can be such a huge help and in addition, with my personal and professional experience I can work towards making life a little less stressful for new (and not so new) mothers.”
